Don't leave her alone please.I saw this old lady on a wheelchair which was parked by the stairs of the MRT station. She was raising her voice like every 3 minutes or so, calling out for her maid, who was nowhere in sight.
There were so many passerbys... and NO ONE bothered about her. Same for me. I walked past her... intending to go get my car. I stopped, decided to attend to her. Walked back and asked her who is she waiting for.. her anger was gone. She looked so appreciative. She told me her maid has left her there and gone to 7-11. It has been quite some time.
I headed to 7-11, found the maid, who was paying for her stuff. I told her that her madam is calling for her. She looked at me, said "ya ok" with no expression. Totally no sense of guilt. I added on "Please go to her asap, she kept calling for you. and it is very dangerous to leave an elderly all by herself in public. Please do not do that in future." I have no idea if she managed to comprehend what i wanted to put across.. but i cannot stand that "not-your-problem-right?" expression of hers. Even if she do not understand what am i talking about.. the least she could react is to be nervous (worse still, act nervous) and quickly look in the direction of your madam to make sure that she's safe. Arghh.
I even asked the cashier.. is there something wrong with the cash register? (Cause it seems like the transaction is taking forever) He said no. I didnt manage to peep what she bought.. If im not wrong, it should be those prepaid card, magazine and bread. Darn it. If you are smart enough to buy prepaid card for your own leisure, cant you use your brain to push the wheelchair at least to the entrance of 7-11?
I went back and told the auntie that the maid will be done soon. Then i stood outside 7-11 to check out on the maid. She took her own sweet time. One of the 7-11 staff approached me to find out more. I told her the situation and she went to get the maid to go over to push her madam over first.. while the transaction is still going on. diaoz right?
I seriously think some QC should be done before these maids are employed to take care of the elderly as well as young children. I really hate to see the elderly being bullied or ill-treated. Spoilt my mood.
And guess what? I saw the maid and the auntie while driving home. I guess the maid had spent too much time in 7-11.. and was late. So she pushed the wheelchair and ran home. Ya she can fall all she want, but please do not endanger the auntie's life. So pissed. So pissed. So pissed. It's downslope, mind you. It simply shows how 'caring' and 'responsible' she is. If i ever see her employer, i would definitely give her feedback.
Dont let me see her repeat this mistake again.
